The super smokiness and abundance of caramelized onions, buttered lettuce, mustard aioli, and slice of tomato make this sammie an all-star in our burger-loving books. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can add some shaved avocado and pork belly, but we think it’s a standout swirl of flavors as is. It seems this meal heeded the advice of the cutesy sign in the restaurant — it’s “amazing”!

In a town crowded with chic, sexy bars, Chambers stands out. Located in the Phoenix Hotel, the bar underwent a striking and modern remodeling. It once housed Backflip and Bambuddha Lounge. Unique and varied lighting in the two indoor bars, brocade and leather banquette seating, and indoor and outdoor fireplaces give it a distinctive, classy feel. A wall display with more than 10,000 classic LPs sometimes proves to be too tempting for customers, says bartender Richard Woodruff, noting that some go spinning right out the door. The poolside patio is a favorite, especially on sunny Sundays when patrons can dance to DJ music and enjoy barbecue. As the big lighted sign in the front lounge says, “BE AMAZING.” Chambers pretty much nails it.

The Table: Smack dab in the middle of this uber-cool restaurant/bar in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District is a plush two-top, couch-table so sensual, it actually has a fireplace right in front of it. Table 45 is a virtual sweetheart’s table inside a darkly lit dining room bedecked in vinyl records. Thousands of them to be exact. A perfect touch — given you’ll feel like you’re in a late-night commercial for a love song anthology — sans the bearskin rug.

Another Aphrodisiac: Can’t get the sweetheart table? Seats six and seven at the bar (lower picture), overlook a big sparkly sign donning the inspiring words — “Be Amazing.” A suitable plan B.
